Center Stage the Letterpress Way

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Eric is an ultra minimalist at heart. He came to us seeking a classic yet powerful letterpress business card. Anything classic definitely calls for an off-white paper. Eric chose the font, Copperplate Gothic. Which is absolutely a classic font, especially for letterpress, that dates back to 1901. It has a strong chiseled look that produces a crisp image when printed on a letterpress.

We printed these cards on 220lb Pearl Lettra, a 100% cotton paper, and inked it with 100% pure black. These cards may be super simple, but it’s a classic look that really lets the beauty and character of letterpress printing shine bright. And hey, it’s also very cost efficient. 1 color letterpress printing isn’t going to make your wallet shrivel up, and your design can range from super simple to complex. Although, sometimes you don’t need a fancy design or the triple duplexed, double run, 4 color, 2 sided, painted edged, custom die-cut card with Star Wars hologram to get your point across (though I am actually working on the hologram part as we speak).┬áThese cards, with their simple, clean, and classic look, get the job done just as well.

Paper Paper Everywhere

Photographer extraordinaire and all around amazing person, Johnna Brynn e-mailed us a couple months ago about a sample request. She had found us through a blog where one of our client’s cards were featured and she decided to give us a ring. Thanks to our amazing good looks and wit, we won her over… or maybe it was the free design services? Who knows.

She was in the middle of rebranding her photography business and needed to make a strong statement with her stationary, so what better way to do that than with some fantastic letterpress goodies to hand to her clients?

Wedding Bells means Letterpress Well

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Letterpress often finds it’s way into weddings. From letterpress wedding invitation sets including response cards and direction cards and on to menus, places cards, or favor tags at the actual wedding. Not to mention letterpress thank you cards that match the wedding invitations!
The letterpress wedding invitations seen here are two color, blue and gold, on 220lb Lettra. The response cards are a 2 sided postcard style made up of 2 one color prints on 110lb Lettra. We duplexed the response cards before cutting them down. We printed gold on the envelopes, and the neat business card approach for a wedding website is printed on 110lb Lettra.
We feel very honored to have been a part of this wedding, and hopefully we can be a part of your wedding too!
