These aren’t your average rustic wedding invites. These are something special, and what a great project this was for us. The bride-to-be was a complete pleasure to work with, and she trusted us with almost every aspect of her wedding collateral from Save the Date’s to wedding menus and guest note cards to a signature drink poster. It was fun designing all of this, and even more fun letterpress printing it. You see, she came to us with something specific in mind. She wanted a clear acrylic wedding invite. While we didn’t quite know where to start with that, we went to work and made it happen. The result was fantastic!
The inspiration for this rustic wedding suite came from the wedding location and a friend of the bride’s photograph of Arizona’s Cathedral Rock. Oh, and there’s also their little pug making an appearance throughout as well.
Gold Foil on Acrylic Glass
First, let’s take a look at the attention theif of this project; the foil stamped acrylic glass overlay on a full color photographic print, duplexed to a gold ink print on dark brown wood grain paper–held together by gold screw posts. Whew, that’s a lot, but it’s one of the coolest wedding invites we’ve done. The custom cut acrylic glass we used was ⅛ inch thick, so the gold foil stamping stands off the background and looks like it’s floating in the sky with the clouds. This is definitely something we would do again.
Blending it Together
For the rest of these rustic wedding invites, we designed the RSVP, Travel and Accommodations cards to be a custom duplexed paper with 110lb cotton Lettra on one side and dark brown, wood grain paper on the other. Each card was printed one color on each side with gold metallic ink. We packaged it all together in a metallic gold petal enclosure, wrapped it with some twine, and added a small hang tag with a silhouette of their little pug. It was perfect.
Wedding Menus & Other Things
We designed a rehearsal dinner menu and a reception dinner menu. For the rehearsal dinner we printed gold foil on 200lb Razzle Berry by French Paper Co. For the reception dinner, we printed gold foil on the dark brown wood grain paper. Of course, both menus received gold edge painting as well.
Additionally, we designed and printed a gold foil stamped Razzle Berry 11×17 poster that their guests signed as the “guest book,” facilitated some gold ink, screen printed burlap totes for arrival gifts, and designed and printed a poster for the special cocktail of the evening. It was truly a spectacular wedding, and a very fun project for us. Couldn’t be happier with the results.
